Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Maruti Software Solutions (“we”, “our”, “the team”) collects and uses information on useinkwell.app (the “Site”) — the marketing website for the Inkwell open-source project. It does not govern Inkwell instances you self-host; those are entirely under your control.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Inquiry form. When you submit a service enquiry, we collect your name, email address, company or publication name, and the content of your brief. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry.
  • Newsletter subscription. When you subscribe to the Inkwell Letter, we store your email address to send you the newsletter. We do not share your address with third parties.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider may log standard HTTP request data (IP address, browser, referring URL, timestamp) for security and diagnostic purposes. We do not use these logs for marketing.
  • Analytics (consent-based). This Site may use privacy-respecting analytics (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use it. These analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via our cookie banner; if you decline, no analytics cookies are placed. We do not load Meta Pixel, Hotjar, or any advertising or cross-site tracking script, and we never use your data for advertising.

2. How we use your information

  • To respond to service enquiries and send written proposals.
  • To send the Inkwell Letter newsletter (if you subscribed).
  • To maintain the security and operation of the Site.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Data retention

Inquiry data is retained for as long as necessary to manage the business relationship and comply with legal obligations, or for up to three years from last contact, whichever is shorter. Newsletter subscriber addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.

4. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@useinkwell.app. We will respond within 30 days.

5. Cookies

When you first visit, the Site shows a cookie consent banner so you can choose whether to allow analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered in the following ways:

  • Theme preference. A localStorage key (inkwell-theme) records your light/dark theme preference. This is not a cookie, is never transmitted to our servers, and contains no personal data.
  • Consent cookie. A strictly necessary cookie (inkwell-consent) stores your choice from the banner (“granted” or “denied”) for up to 180 days, so we do not ask again on every visit. It contains no personal data.
  • Analytics cookies. If — and only if — you select “Accept”, Google Analytics may set cookies to measure aggregate, non-advertising usage. If you select “Decline”, no analytics cookies are set. We use Google Consent Mode so analytics storage stays disabled until you opt in.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing the inkwell-consent cookie in your browser, which will make the banner appear again on your next visit.

6. Third-party services

The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser fetches these fonts, Google may log the request according to Google's own privacy policy. We have no control over this processing. If you prefer not to load external fonts, you can use a browser extension or content-security policy to block fonts.googleapis.com.

7. Children

This Site is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us at privacy@useinkwell.app and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
